Get Started
How it Works
All new clients start with our Get Started Bundle. This bundle is geared to quickly onboard our team with your product to produce a concrete plan for either starting your SaaS knowledge base or updating an existing one. After the completion of our Get Started Bundle, we can discuss a contract to author the identified articles or turning the project over to your internal team.
When you purchase the Get Started Bundle you get a hierarchy and plan for your knowledge base project with the option to purchase add-ons. Add-on services provide you with everything you could possibly need to set your documentation project up for success. You can always purchase add-ons at a later date.

Understanding the Get Started Bundle
The Get Started Bundle and its add-ons are designed for startups and small software companies. You can always find out more during your scoping call or read our frequently asked questions below.
When you've taken a look at our bundle options, you'll schedule a scoping call with one of our professionals.
The scoping call allows you to explain what add-ons you might be interested in. Our agent will help you if you're not sure which ones are best for you and then help you schedule the required meetings for the bundles.
Before your first meeting, you'll be sent an invoice with the total for the services you selected.
The Get Started Bundle is required for all new clients because our team needs to learn about your product before we can produce documentation on it. Anyone who claims they can just jump in and write help articles for your software without learning it will be creating content your users can't use and won't understand.
There are several benefits to a bundle and it's add-ons for software companies:
- You know exactly how much you're paying to accomplish a task and how much time your team needs to dedicate to it.
- You have the option to use the service bundles as a foundation for your internal team or turn it over to a contractor to complete.
- You and your team learn about end-user knowledge bases and find out if you're ready to fully dedicate to creating one.
Add-on services can only be purchased in addition to the Get Started Bundle.
All of the add-on services require an in-depth understanding of your software that our experts will gain working on the main service bundle.
If you previously purchased a Get Started Bundle, you can purchase an add-on service.
If you have complex software that will require more than 6 meetings in hour increments, let us know during the scoping call.
Most software can be fully demoed well within a 6-hour window. Try talking to your sales team or customer success department to see if they know an efficient way to train new users on the software.
If you can't show your software within 6 hours, the price can be adjusted to add more training meetings. You can discuss it on your scoping call and work it out with our agent.
If you're purchasing multiple add-ons with your bundle, our agents will automatically apply discounts to your purchase price.
If you were referred by a previous client, mention it in your scoping call and a discount may apply for you and the company that referred you!
Get Started Bundle
Before anyone can write articles for your knowledge base, they need to understand your software and how articles will fit together. Articles should be short and easily hyperlinked to other related articles. Users expect articles to be organized intuitively, inside categories and subcategories that make sense. This kind of organization requires structure from the start.
With the Get Started Bundle, our experts learn about your software from your team and create a comprehensive list of all the categories, subcategories, and articles, that your knowledge base should have. This provides you with a to-do list for getting your help center done and ensures your end-users can easily find the information they need.
Article Templates
Your knowledge base may have different sections for your end users. One section may include tutorials and training guides, another regular how-to articles, and another release notes on new features. Each type of article should have a certain format and look that is consistent.
Our team will work with yours to create simple article templates that anyone can follow to write consistent content. We'll go over what headings and sections belong in the different templates, font and color choices, and screenshot formatting.
Style Guide
All of your documentation should have a certain tone and style. Consistent terminology should be used across all of your articles - you don't want different articles referring to tabs and buttons with different language and styles.
We'll work with your team to create a style guide for any future writers to reference when adding to or editing your knowledge base. A style guide will save you time and effort later when your knowledge base grows. The style guide we create will be editable and can grow with your software.
Project Management Plan
Once you have a list of articles needed for your knowledge base, you need to keep track of what ones are written, under review, and posted.
Our agents will work with your team to create a timetable for your project and translate your hierarchy into a fully operational schedule in project management software. We do not support every project management platform but are usually happy to work with what our clients have. You can discuss your project management system with one of our agents during the scoping call to see if we can help. Rates may change for different project management software.
Note: You will need to have a subscription to the appropriate software with the tiers required for features like workflows and other desired tasks.
After completing the Get Started Bundle, you have the option to hire us to write the help articles or other end-user documentation identified during the process. Simply mention it in your final meetings, and we’ll schedule a free consultation to scope your project!
Why Is This a Separate Service?
We’d love to continue working with you, but we know every SaaS company has unique needs. Many clients choose to have their internal team handle documentation after completing the Get Started Bundle. Our framework ensures your team has the structure and formatting needed to confidently create content.
Some companies realize they’re not ready to invest in a full knowledge base and prefer to wait. Others may need an industry-specific expert or have tight deadlines we can’t accommodate. With the insights and content from the Get Started Bundle, you’ll be equipped to hire the right writer or move forward at your own pace.
No matter what, our Get Started Bundle is the best foundation for creating and maintaining a clear, effective knowledge base—and when the timing is right, we’re here to help with long-term projects.
After clients have completed the Get Started Bundle, we offer a myriad of services:
- Knowledge Base Articles
- Guided Tour Scripts and Recommendations
- Tutorial Scripts
- UX Testing (ask for details)
- Copy Editing
- UI Copy for Tooltips and More
- Software Recommendations
- Knowledge Base Version Management and Updates
- Release Notes
At the end of your Get Started Bundle, just let us know what services you'd like to engage us for!
Why can't we just start one of these services?
The answer is - it just wouldn't work any other way.
The truth is, no matter what end-user documentation you need, it requires an author who knows and understands your product. The Get Started Bundle is required for all new clients as it ensures we know your product inside and out.
Even if you only want release notes for new features - you will need documentation about these new features and old documentation updated. Your release notes will need to link back to and refer to relevant articles where users can find more information. Putting that together isn't possible if the author doesn't already know your knowledge base structure and content as well as how the new features effect the software as a whole.
If you're still not sure about this, feel free to ask and express your concerns during one of our free scoping calls.
